Through the Bible: ProverbsSample
Treasure of Wisdom and Knowledge
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
The book of Proverbs is a treasure trove of wisdom from God to teach us how to live right. Every verse is a truth that we are constantly reminded to hold on to and to not forget. Proverbs 2:4-5 says that “if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God”.
The fear of the Lord is mentioned many times in Proverbs because it is the key that unlocks wisdom and understanding. We must have a deep respect and reverence for God’s power and authority as Creator and Judge. As we seek Him at all costs, we will find all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge that are in Christ (Col. 2:3).
Prayer:
Lord, teach us always to cultivate the fear of the Lord in our lives and seek You and trust in You with all our hearts. Amen.
