Better View, Part 1

DAY 3 OF 3

Better View

I don’t know about you guys, but these past couple of years have caused me to ask God more questions than ever before in my life. It’s been a wild ride, and it doesn’t seem to end. It seems like the world keeps getting crazier and crazier. And I find myself waiting for God to show up.

Like, when does the revival come? When will good times happen again? When does the world calm down and find peace? When does my life find peace again? As I find myself asking these questions, it reminds me of David in the Psalms. Psalm 4 starts off like this:

Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. Psalm 4:1 NLT

Can anyone relate with that? I know I can. I’m pretty sure I’ve prayed that prayer verbatim multiple times. But if you continue reading, a turning point happens. In verse three, it says:

You can be sure of this: … The Lord will answer when I call to him. Psalm 4:3 NLT

And verse five says:

Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord. Psalm 4:5 NLT

Wait, what just happened? First he was crying out, “Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me.” Then the next moment, he’s saying, “Trust Him, he’s going to answer your call.” It’s such a weird progression that happens so quickly.

But what I see is God providing hope in the middle of David’s storm. And if He could do it with David time and again, as documented in the Psalms, He for sure can do it for us now. We might not get the answers right away, but we can rest assured that He’ll be faithful to bring His presence, His love, and His mercy in all that we face. In all of our uncertainties, doubts, and questions, He will be there. And in the middle of it, He’ll give us a new perspective. When we look back, we’ll see His handiwork throughout.

So it’s okay to have questions. Just don’t ever forget that God will be faithful to provide for us through His presence no matter what, and He’ll lead us to a better perspective as we keep looking to Him.

About this Plan

Better View, Part 1

God’s always with us and ready to listen. It’s okay to ask Him our questions, because He wants to reveal Himself to us. He can help us wrestle through our doubts to a better view of who He is. Music is one way to grow closer to God. This Plan from Pastor Rob Estevez, one of the artists from Switch, is part of the Switch Music release “Better View.”
