Transforming Your Mind

DAY 5 OF 7

Have you ever heard someone say, “Not today, Satan!” You might hear people say this as a joke when someone doesn’t want to do something, but temptation from the devil is a very real thing. It isn’t a sin to be tempted by something, but temptation can lead us to sin if we aren’t careful or give in to the things around us. In James, we find a piece of encouragement. In the times when we are tempted to sin, God is with us. When we draw close to God, He will draw near to us. When we resist the devil, he will flee from us because he knows that we are standing firm in Christ instead of giving in to the things of this world. As we allow God to transform our minds, it becomes easier to resist the things of the world. But temptation will never entirely go away, so we must constantly remind ourselves to draw near to God and allow Him to change our thoughts and actions continually. That way, we can confidently say, “Not today, Satan!” And Satan will know he can’t get ahold of us when Christ transforms our minds.

Challenge: Take time today to draw close to God. You can do this in many ways! It could be through reading scripture, spending time in prayer, journaling, talking to a Christian mentor, or listening to a worship song. Check out the Fall Retreat Spotify playlist if you need some inspiration! How you draw near to God is unique to your relationship with Him. Whatever it is, take time today to spend with God and draw close to Him.

About this Plan

Transforming Your Mind

You may have heard people talking about bodily transformations— through weight loss programs, diets, or crazy exercise. But did you know that God wants us to transform our minds? When we choose to trust in Jesus, we become brand-new people. What does it mean for God to transform us and how does it happen?
