What Is God's View on Marriage?Sample

Marriage is a picture of Christ’s love for believers
The apostle Paul writes about the role of husband and wife in marriage. In summary, every husband is to love his wife as himself, and every wife should respect her husband and submit to him. That’s not always easy to do, but it’s easy enough to grasp. However, this is not just about marriage. All this is a “mystery” that “refers to Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32).
Paul compares husbands to Christ: they should love, nourish and cherish their wives as Christ loves and cares for the church. He even gave his life for her. This sets a really high standard! Moreover, Christ is the head of the church, who needs to be respected. Similarly, wives should respect their husbands and submit in everything to them as to their “heads”. This way, a Christian marriage depicts the invisible relationship between Jesus Christ and his church. Marriage is holy because it is a picture of God’s love for sinners. It should show others deep love and faithfulness and self-sacrifice.
