Insecure

DAY 18 OF 28

Insecurity and Power Struggles

Saul already knew that his days as King of Israel were almost over. Samuel had already told him that God had rejected his kingship. As David humbly served Saul, Saul began to see him as a threat. The more David fought for the nation, the clearer it was that the Lord was with David. Everyone loved him; the army, his son, and even his daughter.

Rather than seeing the opportunity to raise and mentor David as a future leader, Saul began to plot how to murder David, who he now saw as God's successor to his throne. Insecure leaders are constantly struggling to secure their power at high costs to others. An insecure leader will go to great lengths to discredit those they see as a threat to their success. On the other hand, a secure leader takes joy in raising other leaders. They celebrate those with skills that surpass their own and are confident enough to make way for the success of others.

Daily Challenge: When is the last time you celebrated the success of someone else around you? Who are people in your workplace, neighborhood, or family that you could mentor or encourage in their personal growth?
