I Need You
By Rosie Puelma
LYRICS
You are here and I'm letting go
So You can have control
Your Spirit here dwelling within
So I'll never walk alone
Even in my wandering
You remind me of the truth
That all I need is You
All I need is You
I have found myself walking through seasons and moments of intense grief, joyful celebration, and tiring confusion for the past year. On one hand, my husband and I are preparing for our first child due this October. On the other hand, my family and I are walking through medical diagnoses I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. Then throw in the stress of living in the midst of COVID-19, moving homes, having friends move across the country, and trying to figure out how to navigate countless other things that seem to appear out of nowhere. I find friendship with the apostle Paul when he writes in Philippians 4:12, "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty."
This year has been one of learning to trust. One of letting go of control, and realizing I never had it in the first place. It's been a year of recognizing that the Spirit is with me in every moment. When everything feels right, I've been learning to pause in celebration, seeing that God is my provider, and the Spirit is my joy. In moments when things can only be explained as brutal, I've been reminded that the Spirit is my sweetest comforter. And in moments when things feel confusing and chaotic, I've been learning God is my peace and clarity.
I think it's safe to assume we've all been learning these things in some way. Maybe we've been learning how to trust God, or even just the ins and outs of what walking with God requires of us. We've been reminded of who God is, and in that, we can step into a season of collectively hearing the Spirit of God lovingly whispering, "I'm in this with you. Trust Me."
PRAYER
Dear God, help me to remember that You're in every moment of my life. You've gone before me and have lovingly planned out every day of my life, even when it feels like things are uncertain around me. You've proven to me time and time again that Your track record is perfect. So today, I am choosing to let go of trying to control my circumstances. I commit to following and trusting Your Word. I trust You with every moment, and no longer want to rely on my understanding. In Jesus' name, amen.
