To Know and to Experience GodSample
STAY AWAY FROM SIN THROUGH HIS WORD
INTRODUCTION
Every Christian who believes that Jesus is Lord and Savior must realize that the Bible is the Word inspired by the Holy Spirit written by the people who were used by God to record and make it into the Bible.
After we read and study the Bible, we will be convinced in our thought that the Bible is the breath of God, meaning that the Word of God comes directly to us from God the Father through the Holy Spirit.
The Word of God was anointed by the Holy Spirit has the full capacity to change human life. If we accept the truth of the Word of God and keep it in our hearts, then our paths will be enlightened by His Word.
Jesus said in His Word that we will know the truth and the truth will condemn us. But first, we must know what the truth is before the truth can start to work to liberate us.
We need to be set free from the bondage of sin, and God sets a high standard for us in overcoming the sins that affect us. Sin is something that contradicts God's will or does not express the character of God's holiness.
How can every believer be able to please God and overcome the sins that are inhibiting us? Remember our enemy is a devil who tries to fall us into sin every moment. Be thankful for the spiritual weapon that the Lord Jesus gave for His church that is the Word of God which is the truth.
DISCUSSION
Living in the truth of the Word of God is the ultimate goal and call of our lives. Through His Word, God is able to give His children the wisdom and understanding needed to gain victory.
And here are some things that need to be done to defeat sin and live in the power of the Word of God:
1. Guard it according to the Word of God (Psalm 119:9).
For young people in particular and for each of us as well, living in the truth and keeping holiness may not be easy. But actually living in the truth is the secret of receiving the victory that God wants. God longs to see His children live in righteousness, to keep their holiness, to stop hatred, and to give the love of forgiveness. Doing what God likes means to live in His righteousness and to keep life in line with the Word of God.
2. Let us not wander from God's command. (Psalm 119:10)
The Word of God is a guide and direction for our lives. As believers, we are obliged to read the Word of God every day because we will not be able to live in victory and success without the Word of God.
We must always behold the Lord, so that we will not be deviated to the right or to the left and double-minded, but keep beholding God. With eyes fixed on the Lord, we are not easy to fall into sin and commit an offense. A life leading by God makes us walk forward, but the lives of ones who are double-minded may deviate to the right or left. They will have no peace. "he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8).
3. Hide the Word of God in the heart. (Psalm 119:11).
When we read and meditate on the word of God, where do we keep it? The Word of God is the seed that is sown in the heart. Keep every word of God in the heart even though our flesh does not accept it. Believe that there will be the time for the seed of the Word of God to grow 30, 60, and 100 times. Believe that the Word of God cleanses our lives from sin, and gives spiritual growth.
When our hearts keep all the truths of the Word of God we will be guarded to be sinless, the Word of God who controls our hearts will make us endure so that we will not be easy to get angry, hurt, resentful and God's Word will be like a light that illuminates and guides our path.
4. Direct the step with His Word. (Psalm 119:133).
The Lord says to Joshua to be strong and confident, and meditate on the word of God day and night, and that Word is also directed to us:
There are four times the Lord said to Joshua or us, be strong and of good courage (Joshua 1: 6,7-8,9,18), the meanings are:
a) Confirms our belief that God chooses us to be His instrument in doing His will. (verse 6)
b) Our attention is focused on doing God's will. (verses 7-8)
c) Not be afraid or dismayed when facing challenges. (v. 9)
d) Given the power or authority from God. (verse 18)
CONCLUSION
By living in the truth of the Word of God, every believer is given the power to overcome the sins that hinder our lives by;
1. Keeping our lives according to the Word of God.
2. Do not let us diverge from His Word.
3. Keep the Word of God or His promise in your heart.
4. Affirm or set our steps with His Word.
