Real Hope: Finding Hope in IsaiahSample
Good or Bad
On my prayer walk, I came across a beautiful diamond python that just wanted to enjoy the warmth of the sun. This snake isn’t venomous! But it reminded me how we view some things as bad, hurtful, or full of poison – when it’s not! And also think something is ‘good’ when it’s bad.
In the above verse, Isaiah described a deep state of moral confusion that was dominating the nation.
Humanity has always been skilled at confusing evil with good. That was Adam and Eve’s problem in the garden, and it’s our problem today. The loud voice of persuasion enticing us to listen to another voice other than God’s.
That’s the temptation for all of humanity. God alone is the One from the beginning, who defines what is good and what is bad. When we reject or ignore what God says is good for the world and good for us, we make ourselves judge of good and evil, right and wrong, fair and unfair, beautiful and ugly.
God has not changed. His Word is relevant. Man may change laws and make something legal, but it doesn’t change what God says. Just because something is true doesn’t make it the truth. His Word is as relevant today as it was when first penned and carries every drop of Christ’s life-giving, lifesaving blood.
