Reset My Confession

Let’s review the last two days. First, Jesus said, “Listen and obey.” But often we don’t feel like it’s that easy. There are many things that keep us from coming to Jesus. One is fear, and we looked at that yesterday.

Today we want to look at our confession—who do we say Jesus is? Some, like King Herod in today’s reading, were puzzled by Jesus. Others, like Jesus’ followers, were sent and did great miracles. But the very next day, their faith was shaken when Jesus asked them to feed 5,000 people.

And at the end of it all is a question: “Who do you say that I am?”

The truth is, that question matters a lot. It matters because Jesus tells us it’s not going to be easy. He tells us to lay down our life every day. To every one of us, Jesus says, “Who do you say that I am?”
