There's nothing more stressful than living in a space where literally everyone is festive but you. Each holiday has a corresponding plastic bin in the storage space full of bright, sometimes tacky, over-the-top decorations. The worst part is, you are still expected to help decorate or tear down said decorations regardless of your lack of interest or motivation to do so. Holidays are meant to be peaceful, right? Relaxing with loved ones, making memories. But how can you even think about peace when you, or another family member, are the self-appointed Grinch of the bunch?
The thing about peace is, it's not created by things we can see. The Bible reminds us time and time again, Jesus is peace in the flesh. Seeking peace can help resolve conflict. The Spirit of God is peace. It's not a Grinch's picture-perfect, decoration-less holiday season. It's not the festive, over-the-top visionary's fun-filled holiday. It rests in Jesus. Maybe peace is hard for us to imagine. For some, they choose destructive behaviors, partners, or situations on purpose because peace feels like the quiet before the storm. But peace is a promise, and it's found in Jesus.
What does seeking peace look like to you?

About this Plan
“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
