What makes a body a body? Is it the hands? Fingers? Eyes? Brain? Or is it all of the different parts put together that make it a body? It's pretty amazing how God created our bodies with such intricate systems that all work together to make up a functioning body. The human body wasn't the only thing created this way, though. God created the Church (not the actual buildings, but the people who follow Jesus) this way as well. The Church is people — everyone who has ever loved and followed Jesus, past, present, and future. Every one of those people brings unique gifts and parts to the body of the Church.
When the Church works together, we can do things for God and for others we could never do on our own. To thrive, we need one another. Two things are crucial, though.
1) That we value the distinct gifts others bring to the table.
2) That we use the distinct gifts we have to serve God and others.
Which is a bigger challenge for you — appreciating others' gifts or using your own gifts to serve? What can you do today to grow in this area?

About this Plan
If someone asked who you are, what would you say? Are you a musician? A basketball player? A friend? A daughter or son? Those things might be true, but have you ever felt like you’re still figuring out who you are, what you’re good at, or why you’re here? In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore who Jesus is and discover who we’re meant to be.
