eKidz Devotional: All About ServiceSample
Made To Serve
What are you really good at? Painting? Singing? Building? Maybe you make the best cookies in town, or you’re amazing at organizing things.
Whatever your talent, gift, or skill is, guess what? God’s behind it! And He didn’t just give it to you so you could be noticed or earn lots of money.
His plan for you and your talent is sooooo much bigger than that! God wants us to honor Him by using our talents to serve others.
Exodus 35:31-32 describes a man named Bezalel (beh·zuh·lel) who had a talent for building stuff. He knew how to work with gold, silver, and bronze. He was great with wood and an incredible artist.
It was no accident that Bezalel had such amazing skills; God had a special plan for his talents — to help build His sanctuary (a place for people to worship God).
Bezalel could have said, “Well, I’m not going to live in the sanctuary, so I don’t need to help the people build it.” But nope! He knew that God had given him the skills to do the job.
Just like Bezalel used his talents to serve others, God wants you to use the talents and gifts He has given you to help those around you.
Ask yourself: What hidden talents do you have? What are some ways you can use your gifts and talents to serve others?
Challenge yourself: Use your talents to serve your family. Maybe clean the bathroom, make a card for a grandparent, or draw a picture to brighten your mom’s day.
Pray: God, thank You for showing me how to serve others. Please help me to look for opportunities where I can use my gifts and talents to help those around me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
