[Revelation] At The ThroneSample
The Jewel Of Heaven Is The Father
People spend thousands of dollars buying diamonds and other precious stones to adorn the people they care for. Jewels are admired, treasured, and protected by people all over the world. Precious stones are used throughout the Bible to represent many things, and that does not change in the book of Revelation. Jasper, ruby, and emerald are all stones seen in the throne room; they are also used to describe the One on the throne. It is clear that the Jewel of heaven is the Father. What do these stones symbolize?
Jasper can be seen to represent the purity of Christ, while ruby represents the blood of Christ that gets us to heaven. We can also see the relationship between these stones in Revelation to the stones on the breastplate of the High Priest. God is the Highest Priest and the Jewel of Heaven. We also see a full rainbow surrounding the throne, representing the complete mercy of God. When God created the rainbow, it was not only a promise never to flood the earth again, but a symbol of God’s mercy on humanity. Here in Revelation, there is a full rainbow showing God’s mercy allowing us to abide in heaven. This is the complete redemption of humanity.
Revelation is filled with striking, sometimes intimidating symbolism and imagery. From roads made of gold to giant creatures never seen on earth, Revelation paints an incredible picture of what is waiting for us on the other side of eternity. We can try to imagine all the amazing things that will be witnessed in heaven, but let us not forget that the most precious thing there is God Himself, His presence. It is clear that if He is the Jewel of heaven. He is also the best thing we could know here on earth.
Prayer: Father, we thank You for allowing us to dig deep into Your Word. Thank You for reminding us that You are the jewel of all existence. The best thing we could ever experience is Your presence. Whenever we seek satisfaction in earthly things, remind us that we can not only look forward to You in heaven, but that we can crown You as the Jewel of our earthly experience as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.
