Lifetime Daily Devotions

DAY 93 OF 365

Am I Praying for God's Plan or Mine?

I know whom I have believed and I am confident that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him.
II Timothy 1:12

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it.
Philippians 1:6

I have given my loved one to You, Lord. Please send what he needs: storm or sunshine, turbulence or calm, rain or snow, fruit or barrenness. You have made him and You know. I trust You.

Do I really?

God usually gives me a chance to find out if I trust Him or not. . . .

* * *

I was praying for my son Pres' frequent back pains and had "told" God exactly what I wanted and how I believed the events should come about -- NOW!

Lord, Pres has been victorious in this over the years, and he is hurting so badly. I really don't see that having this pain linger any longer can profit anyone. So I humbly ask you to heal his back . . . today. (An abbreviated version.)

God: These are the plans that you have for Pres, Anabel?

Anabel: Yes, Lord.

God: These are the plans you would like for Me to carry out?

Anabel: Yes, Lord.

God: I, too, have some plans for Pres. Would you like for Me to abandon MY plans and go with yours?

Anabel: (Silence. Now, what was that statement I was wondering about--if I really believed it? You remember, don't you? That one about giving my loved one to Him and trusting Him.)

A very quiet answer: No, Lord. I want You to do it Your way, please. I do trust You, my dear Jesus . . . implicitly.

About this Plan

Lifetime Daily Devotions

Has your faith become more of a burden than a source of joy and rest? The Christian life is not difficult to live. It's impossible to live! God never intended for you to live it. Jesus Christ is the only one who who has ever successfully lived the Christian life, and His plan is to live it through you. We expend so much energy spinning our wheels, trying to live for God instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to live through us. In this deeply personal, encouraging devotional plan, Anabel Gillham comes alongside you to teach you how to allow Christ to express His overcoming life through you on a moment-by-moment basis. It will remind you of who you are in Christ. It will open the floodgates of God's grace, guiding you to experience true rest and freedom in the midst of the storms of life.
