DAY 38 OF 365

Everyday Miracles

He who . . . changes deep darkness into morning, who also darkens day into night.
Amos 5:8

The dawn and the sunset shout for joy.
Psalm 65:8 tlb

Have you ever watched God make a morning?

Set your alarm and stumble out into the quiet shadows of an unborn day. Have a chair ready (and some mosquito repellent). Then watch carefully as God "changes deep darkness into morning."

And how long has it been since you observed God "darken day into night"?

Plan an evening with your chair out on the lawn facing west. Marvel at His power, His creative coloring. Remember that He watched it and said, "This is good."

God made two huge lights, the sun and the moon, to shine down upon the earth--the larger one, the sun, to preside over the day and the smaller one, the moon, to preside through the night; he had also made the stars. And God set them in the sky to light the earth, and to preside over the day and night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God was pleased.
Genesis 1:16-18 tlb

* * *

Lord, I must confess that there are times when I have complained about not seeing miracles--You know, the lame walking, the blind seeing. And yet there is a ball of fire hanging in the sky, and another hanging ball that reflects the light of the big one, and billions of twinkling ones! What creative genius! Oh, there are burning bushes all around me when I take the time to look. And if I listen carefully, I just might hear a shout or two!

Earth's crammed with heaven,

And every common bush afire with God;

And only he who sees takes off his shoes--

The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

About this Plan

Lifetime Daily Devotions

Has your faith become more of a burden than a source of joy and rest? The Christian life is not difficult to live. It's impossible to live! God never intended for you to live it. Jesus Christ is the only one who who has ever successfully lived the Christian life, and His plan is to live it through you. We expend so much energy spinning our wheels, trying to live for God instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to live through us. In this deeply personal, encouraging devotional plan, Anabel Gillham comes alongside you to teach you how to allow Christ to express His overcoming life through you on a moment-by-moment basis. It will remind you of who you are in Christ. It will open the floodgates of God's grace, guiding you to experience true rest and freedom in the midst of the storms of life.
