Pleasing The Wife Of Your Youth

If you are a wife, let me ask you a favor. Pass this letter on to your husband without reading the remainder of it. Trust me. This may result in a neat surprise for you.

Brother, I'm out on a limb with that lead statement to your bride, but if you're led to follow through with this suggestion it may raise your stock with her.

Recently I asked the Lord what I could do for Anabel that would minister to her. She needed a refreshing break. He led me to take the highway map and mark out a 200-mile, non-freeway, country-roads, day-trip beginning and ending at our house. I cut some old business cards in half and wrote directions for a day-trip for just the two of us. As she uncovered the cards and read them to me one at a time, I drove. They went like this: First card: 1. Take Crowley Rd. (Hwy 731) south to Hwy 174. Next card: 2. Turn right on 174 to 171. (I'd picked up some chicken to have a picnic on Lake Whitney en route.) 3. Turn left on 171 toward Osceola., ...etc. through #14. She loved it!

I drove about 40 to 45 mph to make the trip peaceful. (I pulled over to let other cars pass) She likes to look at the scenery in slo-mo, and miraculously I loved it, too! We came around a curve and Anabel said, "Oh look! A turkey!" and I said, "No, it's a llama." But it was a huge emu! I told you we were relaxed! At least she got the number of legs right. It was one of the best things we've ever done together.

OK, so it may sound weird for ministry to suggest such things. After all, we are supposed to share biblical truth about how to let Christ live through you to bring Him glory. Well, hows this... Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church..." Now, go have a great time with your wife!
