With God all things are possible.

God.

God. Just the name has such incredible meaning.

God. Omnipotent--unlimited in power.

God. Omnipresent--unlimited in His presence.

God. Omniscient--unlimited in wisdom.

God. Immutable, unchangeable, the same yesterday, today and forever.

God. Sovereign.

God. Dependent upon none.

What does "unlimited" mean? No limits. Beyond being limited.

For example, in knowledge: if God does not know the position of every planet in every galaxy--every single one of the billions--then, He's limited! If He does not know the chemical make-up of my little fingernail, then He is limited. If He doesn't know the internal composition of a gnat, then He is limited. (Does that ggravating little thing have a heart? does he feel? does he have a digestive system?)

In power: if God cannot reach down and change a circumstance of any magnitude, then He is limited in power. In the heavens He has placed a tent for the sun; He forms mountains and creates the wind; He makes dawn into darkness; He made the Pleiades and Orion; by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens. That's power.

In His omnipresence: if He cannot be with me in Ft. Worth, Texas and with Nancy in South Pasadena, California--both of us--today, then He is limited. But that is such a small territory. If He cannot be with the naked island native sitting on the warm, sandy beach on the southernmost tip of Africa and also with the Eskimo in his furry cocoon on the northernmost peak of an icy mountain, then He is limited.

Unlimited! This is all beyond my comprehension.

Let me try to understand, God.

I like to quilt. I'm making sample blocks, so I can see how each one looks completed and can decide for myself just how difficult each one is to piece before I choose a pattern for a quilt top. Now, they aren't perfect, but if you never made a quilt block, you would probably be impressed. In fact, you might say to me, "Oh, Anabel! I could never do that! How in the world did you put all of that together?" Why, I made that block! Ask me anything about it. How many pieces there are, how many quilting stitches to the inch, how did I get the corners to match so perfectly, why did I choose these colors? I can answer all of them. After all, I "created" it.

Being everywhere all at the same time, holding back the waters of the Pacific and all the other waters, knowing the make-up of my fingernail, the names of all the stars in all the galaxies, the innards of all the minute insects--to us it seems absolutely impossible. But not to God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. That means He knows everything about everything. After all, He created it!

My God is an unlimited God. Why, oh why, do I try to analyze His actions? Why do I try to make Him the way I think He ought to be? Why do I try to fit Him into the mold I've fashioned for Him? I am so limited! And I find myself placing limitations on Him because His ways are so far removed from my understanding. (Sigh.)
