eKidz Devotional: All About PurposeSample
Purpose of Community
When you think of the word community, what comes to mind — a community pool, a ballpark, your neighborhood, or your church? Each of these things have something in common: They are places where people gather and have common interests.
Did you know part of your purpose is to be in community?
No matter how God made you — outgoing, shy, quiet, chatty — something deep inside each of us longs for friendships and interactions with other people. God created us to live life with others — that’s an important part of His purpose for us.
Hebrews 10:24-25 even tells us to encourage one another and to not give up meeting together.
But community is much more than just meeting together. It’s getting to know one another, building each other up, growing together, and helping each other. One of the best ways to grow stronger in your faith is to be around others who are growing in their faith — to be in community.
Ask yourself: Who makes up your community? In what ways do they help you grow in your faith?
Challenge yourself: Be a part of your church community. Go to church, participate in worship, take notes, and talk to others. Church is where we grow stronger in our faith together.
Pray: God, thank You for community. Help me to surround myself with other people who are excited about growing in their faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
