Being P.R.A.Y.E.R.F.U.L.Sample
"Y is for Your Role"
The scariest prayer anyone can utter – and it is out of fear that God will take us seriously that many of us do not – is that the Lord use us.
There are no throw-away people, no mistakes in all of humanity: we all have a role to play in God’s grand design. Some roles are bigger than others. Some are big parts, while others are mere cameos. Nevertheless, God has predestined a role for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11) – and that includes you.
Faith in action is not an improv show. You do, in fact, have a prescribed role to play. The problem is that far too many people – perhaps even yourself – refuse to consult the Script, either through His Word or through prayer, to find out what that role is.
Upon His ascension, Jesus promised us a Helper – the Holy Spirit – to enable us to recognize Truth and to bestow upon us the gifts we would need to advance His Gospel. These gifts all come from the same Source, but they differ in scope and purpose (Romans 12:6-8) – just as your role in God’s master plan differs from those of your friends or colleagues.
We are called to be the Body of Christ, but just like the parts of a body serve different functions and have different purposes, so, too, do our roles in the Body of Christ. It is essential not to envy those who serve a different or better-perceived role, for each of us is indispensable. (1 Corinthians 12:26-27)
It is only by playing the role God has established for you that you can foster real harmony within the Faith and truly carry out the work He has for you.
Today, pray to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to reveal your spiritual gifts and what role God has for you in service to His Kingdom.

About this Plan
One of the greatest struggles many Christians face has nothing to do with the avoidance or rejection of any one sin, but rather with the neglect of intentional, meaningful prayer. Setting aside the time to pray can be a challenge. What’s more, making sure to pray the right way and for the right reasons (Matthew 6:5-18) can be just as challenging. “Being P.R.A.Y.E.R.F.U.L.” is designed with such challenges in mind.
