DAY 8 OF 20

Who is your favorite person in the youth group? Is it your best friend? What makes them significant? Is it because they’re nice to you? Is it because they come from the same neighborhood and their parents have similar jobs to yours? Are they your favorite because they look like you or dress like you? Do you like them because they have all the “Jesus answers” when a leader asks a question?

Paul, who traveled the world to start churches, was very specific and passionate when he told us not to play favorites and treat everyone with dignity. We are all going to experience the love of God uniquely, according to our needs. But no one is loved or more important than another. Remember, if God loves all of us equally, that means we’re supposed to do the same in our hearts and actions. That favorite person in youth group can be so easy to pinpoint. What about . . . your least favorite? At some point, it is important to ask God to examine your heart and get curious about your relationship with them.

What is one way you can extend love to them?

About this Plan

Rad

Jesus had a lot to say about love, but not everyone loved him. Instead, Jesus’ opponents hated him, attacked him, and saw him as extreme — a radical. And they had a point! The things Jesus taught about loving God and others challenged the status quo. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four ways Jesus invites us to love others according to his revolutionary example.
