Journey to the OlympicsSample

Your Worth is Found in Christ
Devotional:
In today’s world, it can be easy to find our worth in things that the world values. Some seek to find their worth based on their work, a position in a company, or their accomplishments. Although these areas feel like the ones that define us, they are not the places our worth is found. Chanelle Price shares how she came to realize that our worth is found in Christ alone.
Where have you found your worth? Before knowing Christ, Chanelle found her worth in her performance as an athlete. But as Chanelle reminds us, believers should be determined to find their worth in Christ alone. Regardless of our work status or number of accomplishments, God loves us and cares for us. In moments of defeat, self-doubt, or worthlessness, we must remind ourselves of God’s love for us. Because of Christ, we are free to know that regardless of our standing in the world, He loves us and cares for us.
Live It Out:
- Apply: In what ways have you found God's grace to be sufficient for you?
- Pray: Pray that each athlete would be reminded of their true worth in Christ, regardless of their standings in the world.

About this Plan

The journey of an athlete to the Olympics has many parallels to our journey to a closer walk with God. Paul uses the comparison in his letter to the church at Corinth where he mentions a runner's pursuit of a prize. This plan features the stories of Olympic athletes who compete with Biblical guidance. Their pursuit of a gold medal is based on trusting God, not performance alone.
