Worry
It is fascinating how much we can worry about our possessions. We all sometimes battle with thoughts that haunt us, like:
Where will I get enough to live this life?
How can I secure what I have for the future?
How can I adequately provide for my family?
How will I survive a financial crisis?
How can I ever save enough for retirement?
Jesus gave this famous teaching about our concerns for our own provision.
Matthew 6:25 I tell you not to worry about your life. Don’t worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food or clothing?
The 1st key to overcoming our worries about our livelihood is to remember who we are. We are God’s children, we are the crown of His creation, the Creator God promised that He would care for us because we are so precious to Him!
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds in the sky! They don’t plant or harvest. They don’t even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren’t you worth more than birds?
The 2nd key to overcoming our worries about our livelihood is to remember that worry does not serve any worthwhile purpose as we face financial challenges in life. Worry steals from us and inhibits our creativity. When we worry, we waste precious energy that could have gone into problem-solving.
Matthew 6:27-29 Can worry make you live longer? Why worry about clothes? Look how the wildflowers grow. They don’t work hard to make their clothes. But I tell you that Solomon with all his wealth wasn’t as well clothed as one of them.
The 3rd key to overcoming our worries about our livelihood is to put all our trust in our Creator. He is the one who will give us the wisdom to overcome our financial challenges. He is the Good Father who will take care of us.
Matthew 6:31 Don’t worry and ask yourselves, “Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?” Only people who don’t know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these.
Worry does not serve us well. Worry needs to be replaced with positive energy. Trusting in God for our financial needs means that we allow Him to guide us so that our decisions about our finances will bring the provision that He promised to every person on earth.

About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
