Encashing OpportunitiesSample
Opportunity to Dare
‘Fear not’ is the most repeated command in the Bible, occurring 366 times. However, hopefully, we are at that point in our Christian walk that we don’t need to hear God say something every day of the year.
I started my professional career as an accountant in my current organization. After five years of accounting experience, I wanted to do something else. At that time, the administrative manager position was vacant. Many, more qualified people than me applied for the position. But I was summoned and their first question was, ‘Are you afraid of this job?’ I immediately answered that I was not afraid and that we must always dare to aim high. The manager appreciated my answer and I was selected for the position.
I completely surrendered myself to God before applying for the position. He spoke to me through His words: Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you (I Pet 5:7). After I prayed about it and received comfort from God, I wasn’t afraid anymore. It was not my concern anymore but it was His. I know that behind this success there was no one but God. I often tell my colleagues, jokingly: ‘It is not for me to be afraid of fear, fear is afraid of me’!
The Brazilian lyricist and author, Paulo Coelho mused, ‘How much I missed, simply because I was afraid of missing it’. We do not dare and often reject the opportunities that are offered to us out of fear of failure. It is essential that we become unstoppable and unafraid in every area of our lives. We need to influence others with a positive attitude toward life since it will help us keep going on, even long after others will have given up.
Many passages in Scripture speak of God’s care for us. Search out ones that give you the most comfort and confidence, and then commit them to memory. Here is one to memorize:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline." - 2 Tim 1:7
Father, when opportunities knock, help me to crush fear to do Your will.

About this Plan
This Bible Plan will teach us to be attentive to small things that can teach us beautiful truths – people around us going through difficulties, the causes of our failures, a bad boss, etc. Opportunities that can be encashed without crushing others are blessed by the Lord. If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door!
