Ages by Influence Music: Trusting the One Who Was and Is, and Is to ComeSample
Glory, Honor, Power
Writing songs is usually a laborious process for us that is filled with revisions and second guessing. “Glory, Honor, Power” was the exception to this rule. I woke up in the morning with a chorus in my head. The lyrics and melody were incredibly loud and clear. It felt like it was a song that I was remembering. As we dug into the lyrics, we found ourselves drawn to Revelation 4. This chapter paints a beautiful and detailed picture of exactly what is being said, in Heaven, at this very moment. The extravagant scene describes heavenly creatures pouring their thanks and adoration upon the Lord. In response, 24 elders lay their crowns at His feet and ascribe to Him all Glory, Honor and Power. They can’t stop worshiping.
This real-time insight into eternity, along with a personal relationship with God, is the key to trusting Him. It is a “heavenly perspective,” a mindset that remembers no matter what is happening here and now, there is a sovereign God outside of time who is worthy of worship and has our best interest at heart. As we spend time meditating on His eternal nature and getting to know Him personally, trust is born in our heart. A heavenly perspective reveals that every trouble we have in this world is momentary in light of eternity. As we look to the God of the ages we remember that every issue we face is in the hands of a sovereign God. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord.
