Extravagant WorshiperSample

Isaiah 6:5-7 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” [6] Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. [7] With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

We are often oblivious to the things we cannot see. They are very much there, but until a light is shone on them, we cannot see them. “Ignorance is bliss,” the saying goes, but is it really? If we are unaware of our sin, is that a good thing?

Isaiah had this vision of the Lord that was so glorious and amazing, but it also revealed the sin in his life. His unclean lips and his living among people with unclean lips was revealed in the light of his vision of God. Although it must have been painful for him to see it, it was also an opportunity to be delivered of his sin. The prophet experienced the grace of God to be set free from besetting sin. Something that he was powerless to do in himself, he received it freely from the angel who touched his mouth with the live coal that took away his guilt and atoned for his sin.

Drawing close to God will expose our sin and failings, but it will also enable us to encounter the grace of God. The Cross is our altar from which all grace is available. Allow God to expose the sin in our lives and let him deliver us by the blood of Jesus. I want this grace. Do you? Receiving the grace of God in increasing measure will transform us into extravagant worshipers.
