Christian Minimalism: Simple Steps for Abundant Living

DAY 4 OF 7

Stewardship is utilizing and managing all resources God provides us, to the glory of God and for the building up of God’s realm on earth.

Being good stewards means using what God gives us wisely and how God would want us to use our God-given gifts. These gifts include time, spiritual gifts, energy, money, material possessions, and Creation. We are invited by God to use these gifts intentionally and judiciously (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Unlike our consumer culture, which encourages us to continuously buy things we don’t need in order to chase an elusive materialistic happiness, Christian minimalists aim to consume intentionally and live with less. God calls us to use our resources deliberately and wisely.

Jesus tells the story of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:13-21) to illustrate that our relationship with God is what is most important, not the accumulation of wealth or stuff. We are called as Jesus’s followers not to amass as much stuff as possible but to focus on finding our wealth in our relationship with God.

God is calling us to a life of good stewardship, intentional consumption, and living with enough. How is God calling you, personally, to be a good steward of your God-given gifts?
