Carriers of The Sound
It's easy to get caught up in the mind-blowing visuals of God's raw power on display throughout the Bible, but if we look closely, the sound has always preceded the supernatural. In Genesis 1:3, "God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light." In Joshua 6:20, "When the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city." In Ezekiel 43:2, it says, "Behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the way of the east. And His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory." Before our eyes can even perceive the miraculous, our ears are awakened to His voice.
In the Old Testament, the Israelites followed the voice of God. In the New Testament, humanity walked alongside the voice of God, and then in Acts 2:2, "there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind," and the voice of God forever indwelled every human heart that has accepted the invitation. Now, we are literally carriers of the sound that spoke the universe into being.
I know we are living in crazy times with a lot of other voices fighting for our attention, but now is the time to discipline ourselves to hear that gentle whisper again. He's doing something new on the earth and you can be a part of it. Though our schools, workplaces, and churches feel quite a bit different, our God hasn't changed in the slightest. He's still on the throne and longs to display His power among the nations.
Lindsey and I had no clue why God was calling us to record a worship album from our home on February 9th of 2020, but a month later, everything made sense. God wanted to reestablish the sound of our home for His glory. Don't fear the fallout, friends. Listen to that powerful voice echoing the Word of God inside your chest and act on it. This world needs to hear the sound.
