Your Soul is Precious
Your inner life is precious. You cannot afford to neglect it. Of course, most of the time you do neglect it, because there seems to be so many things out there that you need to take care of, things that you feel are far more important than your soul. But that’s how the world shapes you, forms you, and eventually deceives you.
The world distracts you from what really matters, which is your soul. The goal is to make you focus on what you can see, smell, hear, taste and touch, which is your physical life, so that you won’t pay attention to what’s going on inside you, that is, your soul, which is invisible.
The world promises instant gratification and happiness, so that you won’t pay attention to the true state of your soul. Your soul may be dying inside but the world will promise true fulfillment through success, etc., but it will also destroy your soul in the process. Unfortunately, you may not notice this until it’s too late. Your soul will unravel and all the poison inside will spill out and hurt you and others.
The outer life is meaningless if the inner life is neglected. If there is no sense of peace, joy, and rest, then all your accomplishments will be hollow. All the applause in the world will not remove the emptiness that you will feel inside, when your soul is disconnected from God. At the end of the day, after all the excitement has died down, you will be left by yourself without God. That will be a kind of death before death actually comes.
Your soul will speak to you, and, if it’s leaking, you will know it because your relationships will begin to unravel. When your life is unraveling before your very eyes, no outward success can compensate for it. You may continue to convince yourself that it’s all worth it, the success and everything, but your soul will not go along with this lie. It will cry out for God!
The soul is created by God and for God, to be connected with Him as well as with others in real, authentic love. Anything less will slowly kill your soul. What good is it if you gain the whole world but lose your soul? Remember that.

About this Plan
How would you describe your life right now? Awesome? Miserable? If you're like most people, you will describe your life as all the things that you do each day, including perhaps all the relationships you have. Of course, that is your life. But is that all there is to your life? Sadly, if that's all we think about life, we will miss out on what real life is all about. In this devotional we want you to learn that there is a kind of life that is so much better than the best life you can ever imagine.
