SEPARATED FROM THE WORLD
Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. (1 John 3:13)
In a Christian youth administrators’ meeting held by several churches, a topic about Christian youth lifestyle amid the world’s globalization was discussed. The fast-paced flow of information through today’s media is unavoidable. Other than being useful and constructive, this information can also destroy the lives of younger generations.
Busy working parents who do not have enough time to hang out with their children are today’s problem. Many teenagers lose their parents’ attention and so they seek this attention from relationships outside their home. The devil uses this situation as an opportunity to steal this younger generation and lead them to fall into the darkness.
The Bible tells the believers, especially the younger generation, that every one of them who has become a believer should have a life that is different from those who still live in the darkness of sin. When we decide to become Jesus’ followers, the world becomes our enemy. This means that a worldly life filled with sinful desires is no longer a part of us.
Some children of God might still fall into sin, however, the Spirit of God within each of us will rebuke, convict, and even convince us to leave the sin. We must separate ourselves from the worldly way of life, draw closer to God in prayer, worship and listen to His Word.
Separating oneself from the life of the world is the lifestyle of a generation that has been blessed by God.
