How to Stop Self-Sabotaging Your SuccesSample
Most of the time we think that we fear failure yet failure is the default setting of not putting your hand to anything for God to bless.
At the root of self-sabotage is the fear of becoming successful beyond measure.
Take a moment to reflect on this quote by Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Sometimes Christians feel that it is noble to remain under the radar and have little material wealth, or to not further their studies, etc., since wealth, being learned, and so forth might mean that we want to exalt ourselves above God? Religion reasons that way, causing one to believe that God is pleased with us when we become less and less for Him to become more. Consider that God is not a man. He is not driven by ego. Do you recall how God bestowed wisdom and extravagant wealth upon Solomon? You remember that God stated that part of the covenant blessing for Abraham was that God would make Abrahams’ name famous and prosper him… So, we can list everyone in the Bible who found favor with God, and He physically blessed them.
Therefore, we have to settle one thing before moving on to our inadequacies and fears. God delights in the prosperity of His people. He wants to display His glory on the earth through His sons and daughters. Nothing gives God greater delight than seeing you move forward and be made whole to become the best you. Therefore, if that is God’s vantage point, we need to delve deeper into His Word to understand why many still feel like nobodies, almost like the ten spies who accompanied Joshua and Caleb to scout out the land. They were fearful of the giants and saw themselves as grasshoppers!
No more! God’s covenant children were made the righteousness of God, through the sacrifice of Jesus! Therefore, you are breaking free from bondage and stepping into your true calling with boldness.
Reflect in Prayer
Jesus, thank you so much for revealing unto me that I have believed a lie to think that it pleases You when I am not stepping out in faith. I repent for procrastinating and not believing in myself. I thank you that it is Christ in me, the hope of Glory. Fill me with an unsatisfying hunger to advance your kingdom and become all that you have called me to be. Amen
