The Discovery: Exploring God’s Call On Your Life Sample
Intercessory prayer is the prayer of a believer for God’s will to be done in the life of another person. It is vital to the survival and successful functioning of the Body of Christ. Jesus understood this, and He prayed faithfully for others. In fact, He prayed for you!
Paul also understood the power of intercessory prayer. He constantly requested prayer from the many churches with whom he worked, knowing that the power of their prayers would sustain him and bring about God’s will in his circumstances through his efforts.
As you develop the Spiritual Discipline of prayer, make sure to make intercessory prayer a priority. In praying for your brothers and sisters in Christ, you become partners with them, enabling the Body even when you have no physical role in a particular function being carried out by someone else.
Also, as you serve, make sure that faithful followers of Christ are interceding for you in prayer. Who knows? God may perform a miracle for or through you because of the prayer of another believer.
Respond to the following in your journal:
How does it feel to know that Jesus prayed for you?
How would your church be affected if its members took intercessory prayer seriously?
How would your friends and family be affected if you took it seriously?
What did you learn through Bible study today?
How were you encouraged? How were you challenged?

About this Plan
Welcome! We are so excited that you want to explore God’s unique plan for your life. Remember, ultimately, the goal of this reading plan is not to figure out what your future job might be, but to hear from God about what it means to be called, so make sure to give it your best effort! Enjoy the journey! Here are just a few tips as you jump in: • Come prepared mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. • Shut out all distractions. • Start with prayer. Keep communication between you and God open and easy by confessing any unconfessed sin, accepting His forgiveness, and asking Him to speak to your heart through Bible study. • Take your time. Read all of the verses listed, listen for God’s voice. You may want to write in a journal as you go so you can track your spiritual progress and remember what God says to you.
