Better Together

Life is better when we live it together. We all need other people. God designed us to desire relationship with others and with Him. He gives us the gift of each other to meet our earthly needs for love. Though they are often characterized by sadness and loss, the empty nesting years are meant to be full of love and connectivity. 

Ask the Lord to help you put your efforts into rescuing or strengthening your relationships. Lean into the Lord and those you love. We are called to be love to others and to offer love. Focus on the things you appreciate about others and verbally express your gratitude. 

This transition time to empty nesting offers couples an opportunity to renew their vows of connection and intimacy. Ask the Lord to show you how your marriage can best reflect Him. Watch Him work in ways that go beyond your own plans and dreams. 

This new phase of life also offers unique opportunities to deepen other old friendships and make new ones. The brotherly love we are given, called “phileo” in Greek, is a representation of the greatest Friend, Jesus, who laid down his life for us.

Ask God to show you the friends you are meant to have and how to be a friend to others. He wants to help you love your spouse, family, friends and communities well. Today is a great day to start loving others even better.
