Day Three: Real 

“Your love goes ahead, won’t leave me where I am. Bring me to the heart of you.”

Have you ever felt out of place? Scared and wondering if God even hears you or knows you exist? Walking by faith isn’t always easy; it requires stepping out even when you can’t always see what lies around the next corner.

“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Putting your full trust into something or someone beyond your control can be scary, but there is something sacred and holy when we put our faith in an all-powerful and all-knowing God. He leads us into plans that are beautiful, and different from mere existence.  

One of my favorite Bible stories is the story of a paralyzed man who was lowered through the roof for Jesus to heal him (see Luke 5:17-26). Faith causes us to step out, believe, and do crazy things sometimes. I want to be one who not only knows about the love of God but also one who steps out in faith to model it to others as well, so that they may know him too. The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians:

“May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.” Ephesians 3:18

The song “Real” is both a prayer and a declaration of faith, asking God to make himself known to us. It’s a prayer to lead us into his heart, and give us ideas on how to love others.
