Love God Greatly: In the Beginning

DAY 26 OF 42

Can you imagine what Noah may have felt when he and his family were in the middle of the flood? Noah had done everything God commanded him. He had been faithful to walk with God and he had been faithful in building the ark. God shut the door and the floods came. Noah and his family and the animals with them were all that survived. What a great sense of wonder and fear and confusion and anticipation they may have felt.

The same God who rescued Noah from a wicked generation, the same God who instructed Noah on exactly how to build the ark, the same God who shut the door, and the same God who protected Noah, his family, and the animals from the flood waters is still God today. He is with us in all our floods, all our valleys, all our fears.

Though God had destroyed all living creatures, He saved Noah and his family. God was with them, leading them even in the midst of darkness. We have all faced seasons of overwhelming fear. When we face valleys, whether from pain, loss, sin, fear, or oppression, our God is the same. He is the shepherd who cares for us. He is the One leading us to abundance, helping us when we are weak and tired, giving us strength and showing us the right path.

Noah had every reason to fear. He trusted God in the middle of his circumstances and walked with God day in and day out. May our lives be a reflection of Noah’s, faithful to do all God has asked of us, faithful to cling to Him even in the darkest valley, and confident He is with us no matter what.

Prayer:

Father God, I know You are with me. You are my shepherd and I lack nothing in You. You are with me and I fear no danger. You assure me of who You are and what You can do. I trust You, Lord. Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly: In the Beginning

In this Bible study, we’ll explore the first eleven chapters of Genesis, discovering the beginnings of creation, sin, grace, redemption, and promise. We can learn to love God greatly by studying His character, especially the aspects that are challenging and raise more questions in our faith. May we be expectant that He will reveal Himself to us in new ways as we seek Him.
