Journey With the WordSample
DAY 1: A Light and a Lamp
What is a Scripture that changed your day? Maybe it was a verse that got you through a hard time or an encouraging passage that a friend or family member posted on social media.
God’s Word is life-changing. Hopefully, you can think of times when you’ve experienced its power in your own life and witnessed it in the lives of your family and friends. Maybe you’ve seen Scripture’s transformational power firsthand in communities around the world.
It’s a privilege to have access to Scripture. But it’s not enough to just read the Word; we have to intentionally engage with it. We’re transformed when we interact with Scripture and the God who authors it. When we experience the power of who God is, we can’t walk away from that encounter unchanged!
Each of our journeys with God is unique; no two are exactly the same. Yet we can all be impacted by the same words found within Scripture as God speaks to each of us at just the right time with words that He breathed into life centuries ago.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (NLT). By His Word we have light. We have direction. We have hope.
Over the next few days, you’ll find a collection of personal encounters with God—experiences that left people changed as they walked with Jesus and became new people. We hope that God will use these testimonies to speak to you, to encourage you, and to remind you of his steadfast love and constant presence in our lives.
Points to Ponder:
- What’s a Bible verse or passage that has impacted your life?
- How has your life been changed because you have access to the Bible?
