The Story of the Bible

DAY 15 OF 56

Redemption

It is easy for us to look back on the Exodus story and think "of course God did that for those people who were oppressed". But we need to remember that at this time in history people didn't fully know what God was like.

People often feared gods and did all they could to please them. The idea that a God would save an oppressed people was revolutionary.

God chooses the Exodus narrative to reveal himself by a new name to the people of Israel: Yahweh. He was showing himself as a God of redemption who cares about his people.
