Seven Lessons We Can Learn From the Israelites and Their Journey Through the WildernessSample
Miraculous provision
The next place the Israelites came to was called the desert of Sin. Here they began to grumble against Moses and Aaron once again. In Exodus 16:3, “The Israelites said to them, ‘If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.’ Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites tell them, ‘At twilight, you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’ “
The Israelites saw the miraculous provision of God for them each day, day in and day out, all the way to the Promised Land. God was faithful even when they continued to grumble and complain. God wants to provide for us in miraculous ways, but in uncertain situations it can be hard to trust that He is going to come through. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider. When we get to know Him this way, we get to see His miraculous hand of provision in all the different areas of our lives. God was inviting the Israelites to know Him as their Provider.
Do you have areas of your life where you could use God’s miraculous provision? Do you believe that He wants to be your provider and show up miraculously in your life?
Prayer: Thank You, God, that You are Jehovah Jireh, My Provider. I am so thankful that You love to show up miraculously in the lives of Your children. Help me to trust in You and believe that You want to provide for me in every situation in my life. I know that nothing is impossible with You.
About this Plan
The Israelites' journey can often mimic our journey with the Lord. Sadly, they were often found grumbling and complaining instead of being filled with faith and, therefore, missed out on some of God’s blessings for them. In this 8-session reading plan, we will go on a journey to learn from them, so that we can receive all the blessings God has made available to us.
