Unfair AdvantageSample
“Life isn’t fair.”
For years, I didn’t like this phrase.
I thought it was said by pessimists who were using it as an excuse for something that they had done wrong. Yet, when we think about this three-word statement, we see the truth in it. Life isn’t fair. Bad things happen to good people. Things that they didn’t ask for, and things that they didn’t deserve. You see, life doesn’t concern itself with good and bad, right and wrong, truth and fiction. Humans do. We see success all around us but never within us. We say that it isn’t fair. We blame our circumstances. We blame anyone and anything on our issues.
The reality, however, is that life is going to test you.
Regardless of your background, regardless of your circumstances, regardless of who you are, life will put you to the test.
But instead of comparing your setbacks to the setbacks of others, you have to focus on you. You have to figure out how you can reach your goals despite your setbacks. Comparison does no good. It only robs you of your happiness today. We experience a setback or a failure and we become discouraged. We don’t question why this setback occurred. We don’t think about the idea that the failure will prepare us for the future.
But you will learn more from failure than you will ever learn from success.
Failure teaches us that we are not perfect. It reminds us of our humanity. It shows us when we miss or skip steps, when we have become content, and when we have gotten ahead of ourselves. Success doesn’t often teach; it merely provides us with a false sense of security.
It is for this reason that I believe God allows us to fail.
Not to discourage us from our goals, but to better prepare us to reach these goals!
The Bible tells us that God has set a path aside for us, but it does not promise that this path will be paved. It doesn’t promise that there won’t be branches and roots on the path. The path is not one of least resistance, but one of turns and trials. Of faults and failures.
And ultimately, a path of spiritual prosperity.

About this Plan
The things we go through in life are often unfair. This unfairness, however, can be an advantage if you can change your viewpoint. In his latest plan, David Villa talks about the many unfair advantages that God provides for us in life.
