Six Truths to Simply ChooseSample
Feeling Seen.
Do you have a friend who really knows you? My longest friendship has been going on since kindergarten. I don’t call her my best friend; I call her my lifelong friend. Though miles separate us now and our lives look different, this lifelong friend is one friend who truly knows me.
For relationships to grow roots that are deep and wide, we must be willing to be vulnerable. Once people start getting to know you, they are getting closer to truly seeing you. That is scary.
Psalm 139 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. David speaks over and over about how God searches his heart and his mind. He knows that God sees all parts of him — inside and out, good and bad. God knows David’s words before he speaks them, the steps his feet will take, even the moments when he will stand! David had an extremely intimate relationship with God. He knew that no matter where he went, even if into the darkness or “the far side of the sea”, he could not hide from God, the one who wonderfully created every part of him.
Even our closest friend or spouse can sometimes hurt us, making us wonder if they even know or see us at all. But God knows our thoughts, He understands our troubles, and He knows us completely! We are fully seen and known by Him who created us.
Read Psalm 139 and take note of what sticks out to you in this chapter.
Choose You are seen by God. How does this lead you to choose intimacy with Him?
Reflect How does it make you feel knowing that nothing is hidden from God?
Pray Father, it can be scary to admit that You know all things about me, including my thoughts. Help me to find comfort in this and that You know my steps before I do. Holy Spirit, help me remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
