Longing to BelongSample

Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in? Been rejected or overlooked? Battled feelings of inadequacy? Emotional stabs hurt, but Scripture can heal your heart. 

The next nine days will guide you into deeper intimacy with God. You will read Bible verses that affirm your favored standing as a child of God. You will press in and hear God express the intensity of his love for you. You will arm yourself with divinely powered weapons by wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 

The next nine days will equip you to identify and renounce lies you’ve believed about your place in this world. You will learn to cancel the negative effects of those lies by believing and speaking truth. You will soak in Psalm 139 and learn a Scripture-based manifesto—a public declaration of intentions. You will be challenged to repeat the daily declarations because your tongue has life-giving power.

The next nine days will take you on a journey to discover the joy of acceptance. You’ll gain the confidence to say with conviction, “I’m special”—not in an “everyone gets a trophy just for showing up” kind of way, but in an “I’m special because God created me for a unique purpose” kind of way. 

Satisfy your longing to belong by accepting this challenge to wage war against the lies that occupy your head. Agree with me that no foe can match the mighty sword of the Spirit. Wield the word of God to demolish strongholds by proclaiming the daily declarations out loud. Your tongue has power. Use it for good.

Declare this truth: 

My tongue has power, so what I say matters.

Pray this aloud:

Dear God, thank you for giving me the power to speak life. Forgive me for the times I’ve used my words to tear down and destroy. Help me forgive those who have hurt me with their cruel words. Help me identify and renounce lies I’ve believed about myself and about you. Thank you for giving me the sword of the Spirit to come against those lies. Guide me to believe and speak the truth about who you say I am. Help me carefully consider my words so that I always use my tongue for good. Amen.
