The Test of FaithSample
THE STRONG ROOT
The largest tree in the world is located in Giant Forest, America. This tree is a Giant Sequoia tree named “General Sherman”. The tree, which is estimated to be 2,200 years old, has a body volume of 1,487m3 and a height of 83.8 meters in 2002. The branches are lush and green, providing great shade and beauty. The tree is round and straight and the trunk is high. Over the years this tree has been exposed to strong winds, heavy rain, snow, and both hot and cold weather. It seems that the roots of this tree are quite deep and very strong.
This giant tree is similar to our Christian life. We all end up facing sickness, the death of loved ones, the disconnection of relationships, and other trials. How strong are we to stand in the face of adversity? Are we mature enough in faith? Are we rooted deep enough in God's Word to be able to withstand all storms, changes, and cold weather in this life? Jeremiah assures us that God can care for us no matter what we are facing, as long as we trust and rely on Him.
We need to pay attention that the blessings of those who rely on God and believe in Him are not merely physical nor material things. God cares more about our faith and spirituality. He wants us to continue bearing spiritual fruits that will glorify Him.
Whatever we are facing right now, let us trust God and keep relying on Him. There is no problem that a believer cannot face. Focus on our spiritual growth so that we can stand up to anything.
Today’s devotional
1. If we are likened to a tree, what kind of tree are we?
2. Are we currently strong enough to face various difficulties and challenges?
What would happen if we are strong enough and what would happen if we are not strong enough?
Today’s action
Today, let’s do one spiritual practice that will make us spiritually strong. Do it continuously day after day and look at the results!
