Through the Bible: DeuteronomySample
God Does Not Forget
For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that He swore to them.
Deuteronomy 4:31 (ESV)
For 40 years the disobedient nation of Israel had wandered in the wilderness. Now that they were ready to go into the Promised Land, Moses reminded them of all of God’s mighty acts in delivering them out from slavery in Egypt, His faithfulness and merciful patience with them in their rebellion. He warned them not to break the covenant God made with them on Mount Sinai, to obey the Law of righteous living, so that they would be blessed in the land with prosperity.
Today, God shows us the same mercy in His new covenant of grace through salvation in Christ, for the forgiveness of sin, abundant life of peace, and victory in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us You are God with us, not to lose sight of Your awesomeness, to remember who You are, and to love You in reverence and obedience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan
Deuteronomy is the final heart-pouring sermon of the dying Moses to the second generation of the Israelites, retelling the salvation history of their forefathers and the ways of life through God’s words as they enter into the Promised Land. The book ends with Moses calling readers for a decision: curse and death by disobedience or blessing and life by loving the Lord. Likewise, which will you choose?
