Fasting for Others
Isaiah 58:6-7 (NIV) says,
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"
Have you noticed that most of the fasts recorded in the Bible were observed or done for the sake of others? Esther called a fast for her people. Jesus fasted for our sake. Isaiah 58:6-7 shows us that our fast should be for the good of others.
Consider dedicating your fast to fulfill Isaiah 58:6-7.
Pray passionately with understanding and pray in tongues if you can (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for all you have done for the sake of the world. You are a God of Justice. You save, you deliver, and you restore. Jehovah Rapha, heal the hearts of children who have experienced any form of abuse (Psalm 147:3). Set them free from depression, suicidal thoughts, and every form of oppression, in the name of Jesus. Thank you Father for answering these prayers. In Jesus' name.
Make declarations and decree what you want for children in your communities and use the powerful name of Jesus each time.
