Humble Yourself
Fasting forces you to humble yourself, to admit that you have a need you cannot meet on your own. You need God to intervene on your behalf. Fasting forces you to admit that you’re a human in need of divine intervention.
When you fast and pray, God will exalt you in due time. Seek Him and your answer will come. Admit that your circumstances are something that needs to be addressed in the spiritual realm. You’re telling God that you cannot move forward without Him. You need His help to overcome, to win the battle. Maybe your battle is emotional or spiritual. Maybe you’re sick in your body and your battle is physical. Maybe you’re facing a financial battle. Whatever it might be…the battle belongs to the Lord.
Fasting and prayer arms you for the journey. It refines your focus and sets your feet on an even place. Fasting doesn’t mean you will escape adversity, or that life will be easier. It means God is on your side. He’s leading you to a place of rich fulfillment. Some days God will walk beside you…and some days He will carry you. But He will meet your every need in ways you cannot begin to imagine, and He will give you grace along the way.
Don’t focus on what you’re giving up, but on what you’re gaining. You’re gaining an audience with the King. You’re gaining the opportunity to change the course of your life, to thrive instead of simply survive. You’re gaining a life-altering moment backed by the power of heaven, led by a General that has never known defeat.
Fasting and prayer gives you immediate access to God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He holds the seven seas in the palms of His hands, and He calls the stars by name. While you’re praying and fasting, ask Him to do staggeringly huge things in your life. Imagine God sliding to the edge of His throne, listening to your prayer. He is asking the angels, “Did you hear that?” Ask for the impossible. Ask Him to divide the Red Sea before you and drown your personal Pharaoh. Ask Him to stand with you in the fiery furnace!
He is ALWAYS ready to be the fourth man in your personal fire. You must simply ask.
Tell God your need and have faith that whatever you are asking…He will do.
