Essential Scripture For 30 DaysSample
"Saved by Grace, Not by Works"
Paul is writing a letter to the Christians in the city of Ephesus (hence the name of the book in the Bible is Ephesians). Paul explains earlier in this chapter that all people “were dead in their transgressions and sins” but are now made alive in Christ.
In these verses, Paul is specifying how Christians are saved and have eternal life. By good works? Because we’ve earned it? No! He explains that we are saved by grace (God’s free, unearned favor and forgiveness of sins) and that we have this grace by faith in Jesus Christ, and that alone.
Review:
What did you learn about God? What did you learn about mankind? What will you do differently today as a result of these verses?
