Lessons ~ The TransfigurationSample
Nations Shall Come to the Light
We are being transformed into the image of Jesus with an ever-increasing glory. This is our daily journey (II Corinthians 3:18). Although we are unable to fully articulate what we shall be, we know that when the Lord returns we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is (I John 3:2).
However, grasping this understanding for our personal and individual journey is insufficient. Rather we should understand that God longs for His glory to be upon us as the body of God’s people here on earth (John 17:21-22).
The Lord’s prayer for us is that all of us—disciples of Christ—will be one. The benchmark of oneness that the Lord has laid down for us is the same that exists in the Trinity. Do we even realise the enormous expectation that the Lord has for us, His people?
He doesn’t just stop with laying down the standard of oneness amongst us, but He has prayed that we will unite in the oneness within the Godhead. Does this not shake us to the core? Where are we as the Church today and where is God expecting us to be? Do we see the enormous gulf? Does that not make us cry out in shame and desperation to our God, seeking His forgiveness for our corporate sin?
It is this oneness of the body of Christ that is manifested to the world, which nations will see and be drawn to God (Isaiah 60:1-3).
Thought to ponder
If nations are not turning to Christ, then we must realise and acknowledge that the problem lies with us.
