DAY 3 OF 7

When Others Let You Down

Sometimes people have difficulty loving others because they don’t feel loved themselves. Maybe they were betrayed or rejected at a young age by those who should have loved them most. So instead of loving people as they ought to, they push them away to protect themselves from being hurt again.

How can we overcome such hindrances?

By daring to believe that God’s love for us is great enough to sweep away the pain of the past and yield fruit in our lives. In fact, it’s impossible to cultivate love as a fruit of the spirit without first receiving His love. But you can do it!

His love is wide enough and deep enough and high enough to meet our every need and heal our every hurt. God’s love can make it as if those things never even happened. His love lifts you up when others let you down. He will accept and cherish you when others reject you.

If you’ll dare to trust Him, regardless of your past experiences, He will supply everything you lack and bless you beyond your fondest dreams.

It may sound too good to be true, but if you think about it, Jesus Himself seems too good to be true. Romans 8:32 (KJV) says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”

If you have a history of being rejected and disappointed by others, don’t let history repeat itself. Don’t let your past become your future. Find out what the Bible says about God’s love. If you’ll dare to believe it, your world will begin to change in a wonderful way. Before long, you’ll not only see His love on the pages of your Bible, you’ll see it around you every day of your life.
