Withdraw to Spend Time Jesus
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” —Luke 5:16, NIV
How often do you steal away from work, family, and friends to spend time with the Lord? Jesus often withdrew to talk with His Father, and He is the perfect Son of God. How much more do we need to withdraw to an alone place to spend time talking with God?
If Jesus, our mentor and teacher, often withdrew to be alone with Father God, then doing so must be a key to living a supernatural life. Jesus was God incarnate and had all power, yet He still made it a priority to spend time communing with His Father. He sought Father for wisdom and strength. He sought Him to process His emotions, including His anguish over the pain He would endure on the cross. The times Jesus spent in prayer kept Him unified with His Father and fueled Him with a heavenly power that manifested while He walked the earth.
Jesus told His disciples He could do nothing of Himself but only what He saw the Father doing (John 5:19). The same is true of us. Without Him we can do nothing. The more time we spend with Father, the more we’ll know Him and experience His love, peace, joy, and wisdom.
Beloved, Jesus is calling, “Come, follow Me.” He calls us to follow His pattern of frequently withdrawing to talk with Father God. Supernatural peace, satisfaction, and joy come when we steal away to talk with God. Right now take this moment to identify a place and time you can get away to talk to your Father. Write it down and remind yourself of the appointment. When the time comes for you to steal away, rebuke every hindrance Satan puts up to keep you from meeting with your first love. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (Jas. 4:8).
Cherished one, as you pursue your Creator, you will discover a divine love exchange that will fuel your supernatural path through the rugged roads of this earthly life.
