DAY 2 OF 7

RESOLUTION # 2: A heart that seeks

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16)

God, on the cross, not only saved us, but also gave the order not to live for ourselves, but for Him. How do we do this? By letting the Spirit guide us through the Word, praying, and communing with the family of faith—the church.

The Word

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8)

In a fight between fierce lions, who has the best chance of winning? The one who is more experienced and well fed, right? The same happens in our hearts; whoever is stronger wins—the desire for sin or the will to obey God. Our attitudes reveal who is stronger. For this reason the Word must be the source where we nourish our heart, since it sprouts from it the motivation that guides the actions. It is the food that gives us energy to express Christ's character in our daily challenges.

Prayer

“Pray continually.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

God is the One who wants to hear your joys, sorrows, and difficulties. So, pray! Tell Him your fears, joys, and struggles. Ask for His power to make you mature. As Paul Müller says in his book The Power of a Prayer Life: "A heart in need is a heart that prays. Dependence is like a heartbeat of prayer.” If you seek a life of prayer, you will depend on God and not on your misleading heart.

The Family of Faith

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)

To be a church is to live actively as one who loves God with all your heart. Each member of this Family has a role to play so that everyone grows in health. Thus, we must exhort each other, forgive each other, teach each other, and serve each other.

This is the way to seek God and live close to Him in the next years of our life. Shall we do this together?

Prayer: "God, may my routine show that I love You to the point of devoting my days to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
