Pray Without Ceasing

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) 

Prayer takes a lot of patience. God doesn’t always answer our prayers as quickly as we’d like for Him to. But it’s important to persevere in prayer.

Prayer allows us to talk to God and hear from God. It helps us develop a relationship with God. Every conversation we have with God draws us closer to Him.

Maybe you’re believing God for something, and you’ve prayed about it for days, or weeks, or months, or even years; and He still hasn’t answered your prayer. Or maybe you’ve never prayed before.

James 5:16 (NIV) says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

The simple act of prayer is just as important as the outcome of prayer. Prayer is a transformative process. Prayer changes things. Our prayers move the hand of God to action. But, most importantly, prayer changes us.

Prayer allows us to learn more about the character of God. This week, we’ve learned who He is. 

He is a God who cares. 

He is a God who forgives. 

He is a God who speaks. 

He is a God who answers. 

Most importantly, He is a God who listens. 

We experience all of these facets of who God is when we pray.

If you’re holding onto some unanswered prayers today, I want to encourage you to keep praying. Your prayers are not in vain.

Take some time to talk to God today. Start the conversation. Your prayers make a difference. Don’t give up before the miracle happens. You’re praying to a God who listens.
